Slight loss of right side.

I wasn't sure where to put this Topic, but I hope here is alright.

Up to about 3 years ago from now I've started to sometimes lose sight in the right side of my sight. (I THINK it is only my right eye that loses vision) however the rest of my vision is fine. It only happens a couple of times a year and normally I can just sleep it off, I think it only happens when I'm tired. HOWEVER, lastnight before going to a party I got in the shower and as soon as I got out my vision began to go again. I became extremely lethargic so by the time I got there I decided to just sit and close my eyes/rest for about an hour. Eventually my vision came back but then what happened next is what has began to worry me. I got pins and needles/slight loss of feeling/numbness in my right hand. I could still move my fingers and hand however they felt numb. Again I just ignored it until it went away after about half an hour. I then got a really bad head ache between my eyes which lasted for the rest of the night and I woke up this morning with traces of it. Even now, if I move my head sharply I can still feel the headache ever so slightly.

I don't have any diseases/disabilities that I'm aware of however for some reason I need to sleep a lot. I'm 17 years old and I go to the gym and weight train every monday-friday without fail. I really wouldn't like to leave/quit the gym but I'm wondering if you know anything I've listed or anything else could be causing this, and what it could be? Thanks for any help.

HI and thanks for using the forum.

What you have described sounds a lot like a migraine.  Often times, migraines cause visual disturbances.  Sometimes the visual disturbance is the precursor to the migraine headache and sometimes only the visual disturbance occurs.  You should see a neurologist about these occurances.  There are medications that are available that can treat migraines if this is indeed the cause.  If everything with the neurologist checks out, you should have an eye exam to be sure that you don't have an eye problem causing this.  Hope this helps.  Good luck.

I've heard that sleeping at strange times, (Going to bed late & waking up late in the day) can cause this? As well as straining myself at the gym, it can make it worse? Either way, I'll stop my strange sleeping patters and go to my Doctor's ASAP.

Thank you a lot for your help!
