Strange temporary pain

A couple months ago, i was laying down and rolled over, when i did i got a very strange pain near my hip, it felt like an elastic band snapped. i thought the band on my underwear snapped, but i checked and it hadn't. In the last month, it has happened once a week approx. Sometimes it happens when im just laying still, It feels like an elastic band is breaking inside my body. Sometimes it happens just under my rips on the left side. The pain usually subsides quite quickly and i am easily able to forget about it. Yesterday it happened again, this time the pain lasted a little longer than usual. Once the pain had stopped I had a twitch constantly on my left side, opposite to where your appendix is located. The pain stopped as did the twitching as i was falling asleep. This morning i woke up and had some discomfort where the snap had occured and the twitching continued. My side is still hurting a little but its not unbearable. Im wondering if anyone has any idea what this may be or what may be happening, and if i should be seeking a doctor.

Thank you, I didn't want to make a specail trip to the doctor for nothing too major, so long as you dont think its dangerous it should be fine. I'm a dancer but haven't dance or stretched in some time now so im thinking maybe my muscles are just a little tight or something. thank you very much for your answer, i'll not worry too much about it:)

Hi and thanks for using the forum.

I am not really sure what to think about this pain.  My guess is that it is a ligament or tendon that is getting pulled tightly.  If it is really bothering you, then I think it is worth mentioning it to your doctor.  If it is a muscle, tendon or ligament, then there may be some physical exercises/stretching that you can do to relieve it.  You could try some Tylenol or some Motrin for the pain if you are still sore and if you can tolerate either of those drugs.  Good luck.
