Swollen lymph nodes in the neck

Can taking Florisene, used to maximise hair growth, cause the lymph nodes in the neck to swell? I'm a 43 year old female. 12 weeks ago I started taking Florisene, which I bought online from Amazon, as my hair was thinning on top. 2 weeks after that I noticed 2 painless lumps on the right side of my neck so went to see my doctor who said they are mobile swollen lymph nodes. These could have been there before taking Florisene but I'd only just noticed them. I told him I was taking Florisene and he said that I could continue to take them if I felt they were working, which they are, but he wanted me to have a full blood test anyway which included thyroid and glandular fever and all tests have come back normal. Unfortunately I then caught a chest infection which my doctor prescribed prednisolene steroids, as I'm asthmatic, to clear it and they worked a treat. He thought the infection could have been the cause of the swollen neck lymph nodes but as they are still swollen 3 weeks after finishing the steroids my doctor has now requested I have a CT scan just to be sure. I'm now waiting for an appointment to come through. I was contemplating coming off Florisene to see if the lumps go down but am a bit reluctant to break the course, 3 months left to go, as they are working and my hair has now stopped shedding. I've looked on loads of website chats for side effects of Florisene but no-one has mentioned anything about swollen lymph nodes so am assuming they are OK. Is it just a coincidence? Otherwise I feel completely well and have no other symptoms.

Thank you for your reply.  I wasn't on any other medication or antibiotic for the chest infection, just the steroids so maybe I still have an infection, although I feel fine?  I'm still waiting for my scan appointment to come through and have decided to carry on taking the Florisene.  I will let you know how I get on.

Hi and thanks for using the forum.

When I did a little research on Florisene, I did not find swollen lymph nodes to be a side effect.  This does not mean that it is not the cause of your swollen lymph nodes.  Were you on an antibiotic as well for the chest infection?  The prednisolone would help your respiratory symptoms and prevent your asthma from acting up, but would not treat the actual infection.  IF your doctor felt that the infection was viral, it may be that your body is still fighting it off.  Since you don't have any other symptoms and would like to complete the coarse of Florisene, I would follow your doctor's advice and have the CT Scan to be sure that nothing is going on.  Hope this helps.  Good luck.
