IM 7wks and 2days today, I seemed to be bleeding at 5wks for 4 days thought I started my period, my dr told me not to be concerned cuz women spot when pregnant. So now IM 7wks and 2days along, and only symptom I have is back pain, i had blood on my panties lastnight as well as this morning, now it's light almost nothing. IM concerned if this my uterus getting bigger or slowly miscarriage?
Spotting during the early stages of pregnancy is not uncommon. While your first thought may be miscarriage, there are other causes. Spotting is often noted at implantation ( when the fertilized egg attaches to the lining of the uterus). This usually occurs a week after ovulation. Bleeding can also occur when hormone levels are not high enough to completely suppress your period.
Low back pain during early pregnancy can be caused by the changes your body is going through to accommodate your growing baby.
Heavy bleeding (2 pads/hr), passing clots, severe abdominal pain and cramps, and fever are all symptoms of a more serious problem. If you experience any of these you should inform you doctor immediately.
I always recommend that you speak with your doctor about your concerns. While the bleeding and back pain are not uncommon at your stage of pregnancy, it is hard not to be concerned when it happens to you. Make sure you are getting plenty of rest and drinking plenty of water.
