Yes this was helpful. I am 38 Weeks pregnant and I am dilated three cm. Thank you. This was really helpful..
Thanks for using the forum.
The cervix is the boundary between the vagina and the uterus. A woman's cervix opens slightly after ovulation. Menstrual blood passes through the cervix.
During pregnancy, the cervix is tightly shut. The opening is sealed with the mucus plug. As the pregnancy progresses, hormones with "soften" and relax the opening. Near the end of pregnancy the doctor will begin to examine the cervix to check for dilation and effacement. This is the opening of the cervix and the thinning of the surrounding tissue. This is to allow the baby's head to pass through during birth. During labor the cervix will dilate from 0cm to 10cm.
After reading your question I am not sure if you are pregnant. If you are nearing your due date, and your doctor has told you that you are dilating, then your body is preparing for delivery. You can continue with normal activity unless your doctor has recommend activity restrictions.
I hope this helps.
