Combivent side effect

Combivent side effect

I have been using Combivent and Asmanex for about a month for cough-variant asthma (which I have had for years but was just recently diagnosed).  I am coughing much less, however the first inhalation of the COMBIVENT triggers a violent bronchospasm.  I cough so hard I feel like vomitting at times and  it hurts my ribs, etc.
Are there other bronchodilators I can suggest to my M.D. that would be as effective but perhaps not cause that initial response?  (Inhalation #2 is fine).  Thank you for your help.

I don't think it is the medicine itself that is causing the violent bronchospasm, but maybe the way you are inhaling it is triggering the cough. You may want to try using a spacer with the inhaler such as an aerochamber. If the spacer does not help then I would recommend speaking to your doctor for an alternative such as plain albuterol inhaler.
