Domperidone and itchy

Domperidone and itchy

Hello,

I was recently diagnosed with Gastroparesis.  I tried domperidone for a few days and was doing okay until day 4 when I became itchy all over especially on my lower jaw area with my skin becoming rough like sandpaper around the jaw line.

This happened to me when I took Lipitor but on Day 7 and had to stop.  I did not have any rash or hives like I did when I took Zoloft so I am wondering if this is a side effect or allergic reaction.

I saw an allergy specialist who said normally he would stay off the domperidone but if I must we can slowly try to reintroduce it and see what happens.

Have you evern heard of this side effect?

If I cannot take domperidone then I have to try Reglan which I heard negative things about especially the tardive dyskynisia which  my gastrointerologist warned me about but said it is rare.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Jodi

According to the literature, domperidone can cause nervousness, flushing, or irritability which in turn may be causing the itchiness. You can always try the Reglan and see if it works any better.
