How can I safely wean myself off of Lexapro?

I would discuss with your prescriber your reasons for discontinuing the medication. The most common adverse drug reactions included nausea, difficulty sleeping (insomnia), ejaculation disorder, somnolence (drowsiness), increased sweating (diaphoresis) and tiredness (fatigue). Most of these subside or become more tolerable after a few weeks of treatment. If you are experiencing these and discuss with your prescriber that discontinuing this medication is the best course of action you would use a gradual step down of dosing prescriber by the doctor or nurse practioner. Documentation suggests depending on the length of your treatment decreasing your dosing every 3 to 7 days. I do not suggest you discontinue your medication without first speaking with your provider.
