Is immodium a treatment drug?

Can immodium be used as a treatment drug for irritable bowel syndrome-diarrhea? Does it lead to bad side effects in the long run?

There is no cure for IBS, but you can do things to relieve symptoms. Immodium can be taken for management of diarrhea associated with irritable bowel syndrome. Do not take more than 16 mg daily. If symptoms do not improve following 10 days of treatment with maximum daily doses, then improvement is not likely to occur with further Immodium therapy.

Immodium is generally well tolerated. It is sometimes difficult to distinguish between possible adverse effects of the drug and the problems associated with IBS; however, the following have been reported : epigastric or abdominal pain, abdominal distension, constipation, drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue, headache and nausea/vomiting

Yes it has helped me a little bit.My problem is everything I eat comes out whole it doesn't matter what it is.I've had this problem for 20 yrs now and also been diagnoised with pancreas malabsortion syndrome.I'm soooo depressed about all of it.
