Ok to take Xananx on 'if need' basis?

by Caro253, Sep 23, 2009 10:47AM
Hello there I am on 250 Micrograms of Xanax which I am allowed to take up to three times a day. I usually only take one or two halfs. I have recently stopped taking Remeron because I felt that it wasn't making my anxiety any better. So far I feel better without it. My question is, is it ok to take Xanax on an 'if need' basis or is it something you need to take regularly?

Anxiety for most people is situational, not on a regular basis. You can take Xanax as needed. Taking it as needed will help you avoid dependence on the drug.

You are better off taking Xanax on an as needed basis. Taken on a regular basis it is quickly addictive. In any case, why would you take it when you had no  symptoms of anxiety?
