Tricor® and Crestor® are medications that are used to treat dyslipidemia, “abnormal cholesterol”. Although they treat the same disease, they both work in different ways.  When treating your abnormal cholesterol, your doctor may choose to place you on monotherapy or combination drug therapy.  As combination therapy, taking Tricor® and Crestor® would be an appropriate regimen.  It is important to note that each of these medications, when used alone, may cause muscle toxicity. If one continues to take Tricor® and Crestor®, whether together or as monotherapy, it is important to monitor for any muscle pain, tenderness, weakness, or brown urine.  If any of these side effects do occur, one should contact their doctor immediately because these may be signs of muscle toxicity.
