In this response I included the medical information from Metronidazole. Mainly what it is saying that they don't have conclusive information on the effects. As far as the data shows they haven't seen effects in humans. I can't stop you from worrying but I can tell you that before you use ANy other type of product make sure of 2 things.
1) That you speak to your OB/GYN about using the product first.
2) Make sure you are not "self-diagnosing" your issue. Metronidazole is used for bacterial infections primarily. If you did have a yeast infection this would not be the correct medication to use.
My guess is ( and keep in mind I am just speaking mother to mother) you and your baby will be fine.
Best of luck to you on the remainder of your journey into motherhood.

Metronidazole is classified overall as FDA pregnancy risk category B (including topical/vaginal use). While not an animal teratogen, systemically absorbed metronidazole readily crosses the placenta and enters the fetal circulation. Reports in humans are conflicting; the effects of metronidazole on human fetal organogenesis are not known. The use of metronidazole during pregnancy is controversial; systemic use may be of concern during the first trimester of pregnancy (the manufacturer considers systemic use contraindicated during 1st trimester for trichomoniasis). The CDC also recommends against metronidazole use during the 1st trimester for the treatment of trichomoniasis; use in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters may be acceptable if other treatments have failed. For other indications, metronidazole should be avoided during pregnancy whenever possible, with use occurring only after careful assessment of the potential risk: benefit ratios. Metronidazole is mutagenic in vitro and carcinogenic in rodents, but these concerns have not been shown in humans.
