We are all fabulous moms

Ms. Octuplet Mom already has three kids on S.S.I.  disability checks (forget the food stamps and WICS).  It has been reported by one of her babysitters that one of her kids is autistic.  And she has so much love to share with the rest of them.  No wonder her mom is telling a different story than her.  the mom let a camera into the house which supposedly looks like a refugee camp with sheets diving walls and a sea of cribs and piles of clothes.  Mom can't wait to get out of there and told everyone her daughter is lying.  This is her second fertility specialist because mom ratted her out to the first.

It is amazing how she is on all these programs and can afford invitro.  She also told the babysitter she was being paid to go to school - by who we may ask - probably the state.

People want to point to the Duggers an say they're nuts - okay - they look like a happier nuts.  the only thing that they may be puling off tax wise is claiming that they have a church (getting son sort of tax exemption).  Whether you approve of them or not they didn't have 8 kids in ICU at $1,000,000 a month.

Ms. Suleman loves those disabiility checks - so I'm sure that it will happen.  I wonder about all the million dollar book deals and movies she is hoping for,  In this economy I'm not shelling out for the idiot.  Supposedly Ford was going to ggie her a van but may have changed their mind - America is turning on her as they did over extravagent CEO's.  She really isn't family image.

I am glad that Ms. Suleman got her wish.  I am not saying she is bad - just irresponsible.  I sometimes am overwhelmed with one child that is disabled - and even though the state does pay his tuition - we pay double that in taxes - so I don't feel so bad.  My husband, the ever socialist Greek will say someone needs to take care of those babies, so society should willingly pay.  I agree - but just as we have had to turn over our tax money while I wait for my son's tuition check (after NYC kicked him out of the school I pay taxes for) I wonder if Ms. Suleman wishes to repay the taxpayers for her dream to become a mega mom with three severely disabled kids at home (after all they qualify for SSI at around a thousand each a month).  A thousand a month would go  long way towards my kid's tuition (not really - the summer program is 10K).  We make too much for SSI (which I agree with).

Perhaps that is how she paid for it.  She wanted to start with a new batch because she got tired with the old ones.  Perhaps they weren't cute anymore.  Sam started not to be so cute around the age of her oldest.  She sat in a chair saying that many parents were selfish - perhaps we are because we don't want to fill the world with most likely delayed and disabled children.  Most of us here love our children dearly - but there are many nights we cry because of the fear for their future.   Ms. Suleman seems to enjoy the active role that the state will take in her children's lives - i for one, hate every minute of it.  she obviously must enjoy consulting with all the therapists (after all she feels like she is their colleague after all of her schooling).  Somewhere in those child psychology classes she filed to learn that disabled children need more than a hug and kiss.

Sure I'm selfish.  I spent 5 hours conjoling my son to do his homework so that he wouldn't fall behind in school.  Ms. Suleman, with her erratic breeding habits, has a built in excuse (prematurity) when they all fail.

As a society, we need to help these children.  They will probably have great obstacles.  What made me even sicker was that she was bouncing all over the NICu with smiles on her face.  I spent two weeks with a slightly premature (no NICU) newborn daughter when she contracted RSV.   I don't think I was feeling too jubilant. Same kid comes down with a rare disease when she is 3 1/2 (Kawaski) and we spent three weeks there with a 103 degree fever.  I went home twice for 2 hours that whole period.  I slept in a chair for three weeks and she shared a room with a child dying of a brain tumor who had been abandoned by her parents.  The grandparents weren't talking to them anymore - who could blame them.  All totaled - with no breathing devices or extra NICU staff - Sarah's hospital bill had hit 400K before her 4th birthday.  Once when things were looking pretty bad her doctor took me aside, and asked how much more could I take.  There were no smiles - her blood was clotted with platelets and she was down to 20 lbs.  I told her I get to cry when it was all over.  For weeks I watched the parents come in and out of that place - kids with epilepsy, cancer and everything else.  There were no smiles.   Resident told me she couldn't wait to go into private practice so she wouldn't have to see anymore dying kids.  I was  told that she could develop an aneurysm and drop dead of a heart attack or need bypass when it was all over.  I see those 8 frail babies in that unit and I remeber my newborn who dropped to under 5 lbs.  she was so tiny next to the other babies there . I remember the oxygen tent and the praying to G-d to make her well.

This imbecile was in la la land.  All smiles for the camera.  Anything can go wrong at any time - and she was having fun.  She was calling the one that made the delivery happen the "troublemaker like it was some sort of game.  She was just so damned happy I wondered if she registers really sick kids like the rest of us do.  These weren't children - they were little dolls to her.

I am as agnostic as they come, but I prayed when my little girl was sick.  Perhaps we should all pray for these kids - there mother is too busy enjoying her moment in the sun.

I am soooo sorry to hear about your daughter!!! I too cry at night wondering how my son will do when he is older and able to move away from home. I wonder if he will ever be able to do things on his own and sometimes hate myself for getting frustrated with him.

I don't understand where someone would want to have that many children at one time. I have three and feel like I am going to pull my hair out by the end of the day. And the worst part is where is the father?? NOWHERE because she didn't need one I guess. So we have in total 14 children without a father and with a mother only out for money. No one in there right or wrong mind can give enough attention to 14 children.

To add to that, her reason was because she, "Just wanted to have children." and felt like she was deprived because she grew up as an only child.  I may be a bit cruel saying it but her behavior reminds me of the mentality of a cat collector....

I feel bad for the children.  What was wrong with her other six?  If she couldn't take care of them, how could she care for 8 more?  How can I not see it as a ploy to get government and public financial support?

Sarah is now 9 and except for a slight widening of an artery seems to be fully recovered.  though not a lot is known about the after affects of Kawasaki Syndrome - doctors do believe that it affects the ability of the arteries to repair themselves in the future so we try to keep her on a healthy diet.  My brother-in-law who is a nuclear cardiologist, will probably do a stress test on her soon to see if any aneurysms have developed.  In the 15 kids he has looked out that came clean on their EKG's, he found 3 with undetected aneurysms.  He is thinking of writing a paper on it.  that is the biggest fear - sometimes years later they just died suddenly of a heart attack.

Kawasaki does not cause developmental delays or epilepsy- as hinted by the Travoltas.  The society sort of put up with it all because the Travoltas brought awareness to this rare, but sometimes deadly disease.

As much as we love our kids, I think if we were honest we all resent the fact that we got an extra heap of trouble when we got our unique children.

I understand why people hardly ever have Down Syndrome babies anymore.  Since the whole nuchal scan happened - the births of Down's Syndrome children has dwindles to around a 1,000 a year.  Before the scan it was about 5,000 a year because, let's face it, it is easier to abort a 12 week old baby than a 20 week one.  It is a tremendous burden on a family.  Some states that are not in the Bible Belt, like those on the Northeast Coast, were down to 1 or 2.  We, as a society, cannot expect people to cheerfully have these children when society is not willing to pick up the cost.

But how dies one, with three children who are already disabled, go out and make more with no viable means of support.

On the other hand, my husband, who has given this two minutes of his attention, was right to slam her mother.  She let this happen to some extent (by taking care of her children and letting her live with them).  Had the woman been crammed into public housing with no help for the first six - she wouldn't have been able to save up the money for the procedure to begin with.  The family was bankrupt and not working - perhaps they too were enjoying the kids' disability payments.   By them going to the  press she has made it harder for this woman.  The grandmother looks tired and deeply depressed.  She knows they are in over their head.  She knows that no offers are coming in.  They have a house in Iraq, and Iraq is looking like a far better place than 14 kids hanging off the rafters.  She is obviously the primary caregiver.  She needs to call in CPS before a disaster occurs.  Would we all rather hear about the day she drowned them all because she couldn't take it.   She should have done this privately by calling CPS in.  CPS would not have been allowed to comment on the case and perhaps some semblence could be had.  .  Whether we like it or not, these children exist, and they are going to need financial and emotional support.  If some baby loving fan wanted to send her money - her mother didn't help.  Was it rewarding bad behavior - sure - but hasn't Congress been doing that lately?

Is she going to get a bigger house/apartment to live in?  You bet?  Will their be nurses and homemakers assigned to her?  You bet.  Will she have money to do stupid things anymore - probably not.

As much as Nayda Suleman has become the most notorious mom in America - I hope that the world does not take it out on her children.  Maybe, her stupidity will be a catalyst to get this unregulated industry that has been known to produce sick, healthy babies for no reason but profit under control.  Suleman just did it altogether - but there are plenty o stories of triplets and quads out there who also had premature births.  Triplets and quads used to be a rarity in nature - not anymore.

sue, i did not know that about your daughter, i am glad you survived all that!
i do not know what to think about this women, i believe that mental illness is at fault and should be the grouds for terminating parental rights
i mean we all have our unique wierdness, but most of us are coherent enough to know when we are being insane!!!
i did not know,, prior to reading this post,, that this lady had 3 learning disabled children already,,
can you imagine doing homework with all these kids!!
the weekly spelling words....alone would put me in the grave
my grandmother on my moms side of the family had 13 children, i know for a fact each child did not get what they needed from the parents, my grandparents, my moms oldest sister was the one who took care of her needs, like bath time, getting ready for school, even finacial responsibility fell on the older children,
it was somewhat socially acceptable 60 yrs ago to have a big family, now the world is so crazy, everyday survival is always a concern
even if she had a husband, it would still be terrible difficult for that family
but this crazy mom has all young children, no teenagers to help her with the babies!
a recent repost stated that she heard a message from God that she should stop having kids
that message came to late!
i do have a question?????is it illeagle for a fertility doctor to administer these fertility drugs to someone like this mom, who is clearly emotionally unstable?/
are they going to hold him accountable?
