could my 10 year old son possibly have Aspergers??

hello!
i have a 10 year old son. since the day he was born ive always had a feeling he was "different" but just couldnt quite put my finger on what it could be.
When he was 2 is when i noticed it the most, he was extremely irritable and couldnt communicate well so he would scream out of frustration. he also was very violent towards his older brother and would pull his hair, hit, and bite him at times for no reason at all. i thought of course "terrible twos" so i didnt think anything of it. by age 3 he was becoming more and more to the point where i thought ok...maybe its ADHD. he couldnt sit still, he would take screaming tantrums and still wasnt talking well. i took him to a child psychiatrist and he filled out a questionaire and right there on the spot said "yep! its ADHD" i thought it was a bit odd considering we were only in the office no longer than a half hour, so i took him to our pediatrician and he said age 3 was too young to diagnose and that he would simply "grow out of it". at age 4, he was supposed to enroll in junior kindergarten, he was still not potty trained by this time and had extreme anxiety so i decided it would be in his best interest to wait one more year to enroll him. by age 5 i enrolled him but kept him back in J.K. because he just didnt seem "ready" as he wasnt writing his own name yet or doing any of the things kids his own age were doing. i noticed at this age he was becoming obsessed with the colour of people's houses and would ask everyone we saw "what colour is your house?" i should also mention he was still not completely potty trained by this age. He also had a terrible stutter and would drool non stop. By age 6 i finally got him completely potty trained during the day but he would continue to wet the bed. by this age i started noticing his what i like to call "photographic memory" he didnt forget one thing and the amazing part about it was he would mention very specific details and dates even times. By age 7 he was getting straight A's in school and almost became obsessed with his work being "perfect" if he made a spelling error and the teacher pointed it out he would lash out because in his mind he would have to do the whole thing over even when the teacher pointed out to just fix the one word, he just didnt understand. she mentioned to me that he had a terrible temper and scared her at times because he just wouldnt back down and had to have the last word. By the time he turned 8 he was still wetting the bed, still stuttering, still drooling and seemed very nervous at times. i took him back to the pediatrician and he was assessed again for ADHD, he was not found to have the characteristics as he could finish tasks, wasnt hyper at all and could sit still. we also tried medication for the bed wetting but it didnt work. by age 9 his obsessive compulsive behaviour got worse as he started becoming obsessed with the weather. he became very scared of tornadoes as we had a tornado watch a few weeks before and began to watch the weather network non-stop. when i explained to him that we rarely get tornadoes and he shouldnt worry so much he became obsessed with geography and locations where tornadoes are most likely to touch down. he started writing cities and street names everywhere and was writing them everywhere, on the walls on his bed sheets, pillows...etc. i enrolled him in a group for kids with anxiety to help him learn how to cope better since i figured maybe the scare of the storm triggered some sort of post traumatic stress... now he is 10, still wetting the bed, writing on everything i even took the pens and pencils away and locked them up, he sneaks them in his pockets and atleast 3 times a day i will find a new spot where he has written something. his memory is out of this world he can remember things down to specific details (ex. he will pick a basketball team and remember every players jersey number, names and personal details about them) he will only wear black socks or socks that "fit" right, he is very obsessed with routine and specific times things should be done and writes a schedule for everything, he must have hotdogs for dinner on monday..i ask him why and he says "because its monday", we recently bought him a watch and he's now looking at it every 5 minutes, and... i noticed a few times now him waving his hand infront of his face a few times and at first i thought he was just bored but its been more than once he would sit there and wave his hand very fast infront of his face and just stare at it, when he catched me looking at him he had a look on his face like he did something wrong so i had to pretend like i didnt see him do it so i didnt make him feel bad or embarrassed. he also has a very hard time interacting with other kids, especially girls. he spends alot of time by himself or adults.
now, i dont know much about aspergers i actually just heard of it recently. could this be something i should look more into? i just know there is something going on, and ive been getting nowhere. i just need some answers so i can learn how to be there for him better i feel like he thinks i dont understand him and i feel helpless. he tells me he doesnt have any friends and that breaks my heart.
sorry about the long post. but thanks for taking the time to read.

I would definitely check into Asperger's! Sounds like he may qualify for some of the major "requirements" to diagnose. Find a good pediatrician who will above all listen and then have them refer you to a good autism center or psychologist. The earlier the diagnose and

Hi Lucky Mom.
I recently retired after working as a special ed assistant for 23 years in a school district in Oregon, USA. In that position, I worked with autistic and aspergers students.  Your son's symptoms sound like aspergers.  I would definitely get him checked by a specialist.  I am not a specialist, however I would be surprised if he did not get diagnosed as having aspergers.
