head trauma and asperger's

When my son was 17 months I was holding him and we had a fall. He hit the back of his head hard on the floor. I took him to the ER and the doctors did either a CAT scan or an MRI, which came back clear. Now at he age of 5 he has been diagnosed with Asperger's Disorder. Could the head injury cause Asperger's? Or could there be any lingering damage that mimics the signs of Asperger's?
