Allergic Reaction and Strep

by aspdev75, May 19, 2007 12:00AM
1.5 weeks ago I was working in a dusty crawl space of a really old building.  I had very close contact with dust, which caused breathing difficulty and this feeling of something being stuck in my throat.  By later on that night my face began swelling and getting red, eyes nearly swollen shut by the next morning.  A trip to the ER got me treated with Benadryl and steriods, given prescription steroids to continue.  Since then there has been a rash, redness and itchy areas on my hands, arms and abdomen.  I have had shortness of breath, burning in the chest, nose bleeds, loss of smell, sinus pain, headaches and sore throat.  I returned to the hospital and they tell me white count is elevated and my blood pressure is high.  They tell me to follow-up with Occupational Health the next morning and they put me on an antibiotic Augmenten and send me packing.  Yesterday, the hospital called and told me that they found my throat culture had tested positive for strep and said I should be on an antibiotic.  Told them I was and they asked what, ans said that would be fine.  My question is what should I expect?  I have been 3 days on antibiotics and have not been getting better, it has been getting worse, increased itching, swollen feeling in the throat, tasting blood and just generally feeling bad.  Has anyone seen anything similar to my situation?  Reading online it seems that it does happen in cases of crawl space mold.  I just don't know what to, it hurts to breath and I feel bad.
