Allergies

I have allergies to dust, dust- mites, pollen, all types of grasses, and eggs. I've tried Zyrtec, Allerex, and another kind of medicine and nothing helps my allergies! I was wondering if you could tell me a allegy medicine that would help? Or do you really just have to stay away from what you are allergic to????

Avoidance of know allergens is of the utmost importance but, you might also benefit from allergy desensitization (given either as “shots” or increasingly in recent years, sublingually; that is, under the tongue.)

You would also almost certainly benefit from the use of an inhaled steroid drug, either nasal or oral.  Finally, there is a drug called Xolair (Omalizumab or anti-IgE) that is in a class of drugs called monoclonal antibodies.  This drug binds to a blood protein called IgE; a protein that is necessary for the allergic reaction.  It effectively neutralizes the IgE and prevents the allergic reaction.  It is expensive and not without risk.  The risk is serious, but extremely infrequent.  You may want to discuss this with your doctor or with an Allergist.

Good luck
