Asthma

I've been having asthma for the last 2 months nonstop!!! Now for the last 10 days I've been having bloatiness, my stomache hurts as if I had just eaten a big meal, I get full quickly and always have difficuty breathing. Right now I feel bloated ,chest pain and difficulty in breathing. Why? I have used prednisone, antibiotics ventolin and my albuterol in which after I give myself a treatment 10 or 15 minutes later I'm wheezing. I'm afraid!!! why is this happening?

The reason(s) why your asthma has suddenly worsened, for the past 2 months is something you will have to sort out with your doctor.  The reason could vary from increased environmental exposure to allergens if you have seasonal asthma or irritants, such as air pollution or occupational exposures, to gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) to sinus disease.  Or it could occur for reasons that are not immediately obvious, as it is the nature of asthma to vary spontaneously over time.

Whatever the immediate cause of worsening, you are sub-optimally medicated.  You should be taking an inhaled steroid and a long-acting bronchodilator, along with prednisone to get fast control of your narrowed airways.  You very much need to see your doctor, now, without delay.  Do not rely on Ventolin® Inhalation Aerosol (albuterol sulfate) and albuterol for the long-term control of asthma.

Labored breathing is often associated with air swallowing and that is probably the cause of your bloating.  The bloating, in turn, could worsen GERD and that could worsen your asthma.

In any event, what you have is a treatable disease.  You need better treatment and, if relevant, the avoidance of irritants and allergens in your home and work environment.

Do not continue to try to manage this worsening of asthma, yourself.  To do so is both ineffective and dangerous.
