About 4 yrs ago I was tested for food allergies and bread is my number one enemy. I now can not eat anything that even contains the smallest amount of corn, soy or wheat. Bread is a no no. But my reactions started off as small rashes then the rashes stopped and now my stomach swells up like I'm 7 months pregnant even after one small hamburger. And it last all day long. I don't know what else to do. During the winter all my other allergies are calm and hardly bother me. Now the pollens out I cant touch anything without getting it all over me and then my eyes swell shut and I cant breath. Now along with the summer allergies I have to deal with the food allergy too. I have tried all the gluten free foods and I cant that stuff done much less like any of it. Anyone have any problems like this? I was told theres no medicine to help food allergies...does anyone know different.
You should seek consultation with a board certified allergist regarding your pollen allergy, preferably one with a special interest in food allergy. Given the demonstration of food allergies in the past, it is not unreasonable to suspect that food allergy is the culprit now. But keep in mind that this need not be allergy and may be primarily a digestive disorder such as irritable/inflammatory bowel syndrome or cystic fibrosis (CF). You may need to see a gastroenterologist to sort this out. In the meantime, you should continue to systematically exclude categories of food from your diet and record the response or lack of a response in a dietary diary.
