Black Chalk like nasal mucous

Over the past few weeks I have had black chalk like nasal mucous, I am not a smoker, and never have been, I also stay as far away from smokers as possible. I am not sick, no cough or congestion, just black mucous, and it's not dried blood, it looks like I rubbed charcoal up my nose, it even stains my skin a bit, does anyone have any idea what this could possibly be?
Thanks

This is most unusual.  The most likely cause is the inhalation of an irritant, which has black particles.  It would be wise to make a careful review of all recent occupational and home exposures.  Black mold has been described as a cause of infection and lung damage in infants, but I could find no reports of it causing nasal symptoms in adults.

My suggestion would be to have this black mucous examined microscopically and cultured for fungi.
