Chronic Sinusitis & head symptoms

by KimSb, Dec 29, 2008 03:04PM
I'm having chronic pressure & tightness in my eyebrows & forehead along with allergic Sinusits. Makes me feel very woozy. The sinusitis symptoms are exacerbated when lying down. My allergist tried antibiotics, antifungals, nasal rinses & PULMICORT Ovules. Immunotherapy target towards molds was tried for a year & Nothing helped. MRI showed mild sinus thickening & MRI showed air fluid level in maxilary sinus.

ENT was loath to operate as he felt it would not improve symptoms. I'm not sure where to turn & your advice is most appreciated.

You are really dealing with a principled ENT who declined to do surgery that he deemed unlikely to help you.  You might want to ask him/her 3 questions:  1) Might it be diagnostically useful to sample the maxillary sinus fluid; might it give information that could guide future therapy?; 2) Is it reasonable to assume that your symptoms are correctly attributable to sinus disease?  Might there be another cause?; and 3)  Since your symptoms, as described, are in the area of the frontal sinuses, might frontal sinus obliteration be an option?

Good luck.
