HIVES

by gigi60, Nov 05, 2007 09:10AM
I HAVE HAD REOCCURING HIVES FOR YEARS. I AM STEROID DEPENDANT AND HAVE BEEN FOR YEARS. THE HIVES ONLY OCCUR WHEN I HAVE BEEN ON A LOW DOSE OF STERIODS FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. I CAN'T GET OFF THE STEROIDS BECAUSE THE HIVES GET SO BAD THAT IT COVERS MY BODY AND WON'T GO AWAY TIL I TAKE LARGE DOSES OF STEROIDS FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS. THIS GETS THE HIVES UNDER CONTROL AND IT MIGHT NOT HAPPEN AGAIN FOR 6-9 MONTHS. IT IS LIKE WHEN MY STEROID LEVEL GETS LOW IN MY BODY, THE HIVES COME OUT. NO DOCTOR HAS AN ANSWER FOR THIS PROBLEM. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE EVER HEARD OF ANYTHING LIKE THIS AND MABEY SOMEONE HAS A SUGGESTION. HELP!!!

Urticaria, commonly called hives, can be an extremely complex problem.  You want to consider an evaluation at National Jewish Medical and Research Center, if traveling to Denver, Colorado is feasible.  Please read our hives (urticaria) information at http://www.nationaljewish.org/disease-info/diseases/allergy/about/conditions/hives.aspx to learn more.
