I've been told by a consultant that I have blocked/inflamed sinuses. He prescribed some Levofloxacin only to be taken in an emergency if my symptoms worsened.
I should be referred to an Ear Nose and Throat Specialist, meantime, how do I treat my sinusitis symptoms and earache at home while I wait tp be referred. I have been suffering with this condition since August.
The generally acceptable treatment for your “blocked/inflamed sinuses” would assume that infection is playing a role. That would include an antibiotic, such as levofloxacin in this instance, a decongestant and nasal washes or irrigations, which remove mucus from the nose and sinuses. To learn more about this technique please read our nasal wash treatment information by copying and pasting this address

You should at the same time, seek to have your appointment with the ENT moved up, for while you have been ill since August, your description suggests that this is an incapacitating illness. In addition to his/her exam, you will also need to have bacterial and fungal cultures of the sinus drainage and a CT scan of your sinuses.
