Bad taste can arise in response to:
• many different medications;
• infection of the mouth or teeth;
• allergy; or
• viral infection.  With a viral infection this is almost always a self-limited problem that will resolve spontaneously, within weeks or, at most 1 to 2 months.

Hi, I've found that my saliva, too, sometimes tastes a little strange when I've got a cold or any sort of nasal/sinus problem, so it's probably nothing to worry about.  I will say, however, that I've always noticed a very distinct taste when I have contracted strep throat.  Have you had a sore throat at all?  Just a thought.
