choking from nasal drip especially layed down

by knowley, May 30, 2009 07:36PM
I have nasal problems sometimes I rinse my sinuses with a saline solutions but I often
just have a tickle in my throat and cough and it doesn't always clear it .
Is this just age or is it serious I do have an autoimune desease for which I see a specialist for.

There is no reason to suspect autoimmune disease, on the basis of your question.  Sounds more like rhinitis (inflammation of one’s nose) causing chronic post-nasal drip.  You should continue the saline nasal rinses but also give a try to an over-the-counter (OTC) antihistamine, a nasal decongestant or nasal steroid spray (you may need a prescription for this, so check with your pharmacist).

You should give these meds a good try, before seeing your family doctor, let alone a specialist.

Good luck
