immunoglobin E

My daughter has been diagnosed with dysautonomia.  Among the tests they have run were a series of immunoglobulins.  looking over the results everything is within the normal range, except the immunoglobulin E is 3 & it has the normal at 13.2.  Could this have any significance?  Thank you.  rbird

There are a few reports of low IgE associated with ataxia, telengiectasia and various forms of hypogammaglobulinemia.  Levin showed that low serum IgE concentrations, defined as < 2.0 IU/ml, are not associated with an increased prevalence of respiratory disorders.  Keep in mind that measurement is not reliable at very low levels.  Anti-IgE therapy that brings IgE levels down to the limits of detection have not been associated with any problems.  The seemingly low IgE is almost certainly of no significance, given our present understanding of this immunoglobulin.
