inhaler shot something into the back fo my throat...burns...please help

So i take an advair inhaler for exercising, and i was taking it as i walked out my front door this day, and originally i though the little thing the medicine comes out of got loose and shot into the back of my throat, it hurt EXTREMELY BAD, i almost called 911 because it was in the back of my throat (is still there) and BURNED EXTREMELY badly. i was on the phone crying, i thought it was that piece and i started trying to make my self throw up but it didn't help and it just burned so bad. the burning subsided a little and i looked at the inhaler to see that there was no piece like that at all, and i think maybe it had been cloged and when i took it, it unclogged and sent a big gop of the medicine into my throat. i'm not sure though, and anyways its still there, its mildly painful/burning but its really annoying, i cant see it in the mirror so i'm not sure what to do, wait until it goes away on its own or go to a dr.'s office.

i was nervous that maybe i could have adverse affects from the medicine being stuck to my throat but i believe that the stomach is actually a slower method of ingestion- is this correct?

This is a most unusual occurrence and a serious one that caused you a lot of pain and worry.  You may have gotten a very concentrated, perhaps clumped or congealed, amount of the medicine lodged in your throat.  This will likely resolve spontaneously, but if it has not resolved by the time you receive this message, you should ask your doctor to examine your throat and, if he/she sees nothing abnormal, request consultation with a throat specialist.

We strongly urge you to report this adverse event to the FDA and to the manufacturer.  Save the inhaler as they will want to have the serial number on it.  If you have tossed it, ask your pharmacist if he can give you the serial number of the shipment that contained the inhaler.  Also report what happened to the pharmacist and have him take a look at the inhaler.

You should also inform your doctor about this and ask that he/she also submit an Adverse Reaction Report to the FDA.  He/she can do this easily by going to the same websites listed above.  You should also have him/her take a look at your throat.

This is a serious adverse reaction and the few minutes you take to do this may help others to avoid what happened to you.
