sinus problem nightmare

by arowland, Sep 02, 2007 05:55PM
I have had allergies all my life . As a child I had allergy shots. 1995 two sinus surgeries to correct serious sinus infection that lasted a year and a half. Now I have had a sinus infection for 4 months ,severaly rounds of antibiotics and Prednisone. My CT scan says I am clear of infection but I am in serious pain.  Everyday I wake up with a headache, some days are much worse than others. I have tried nasal irragation two to three times a day. What do you recomend for results with the sinus pain since the infection is gone? Should I consider a fungal infection since there is so much pain in all my frontal sinunes? Do you think it might be allergy realted?

A clear CT scan of the sinuses is strong evidence against chronic sinus infection.  However if you are still draining colored mucus, that would be a sign of infection and that could include fungal infection or allergic fungal sinusitis.  On the other hand, your headache may not be coming from your sinuses and you may have to have a medical evaluation for headache.
