15 year old DX with GERD, exercise asthma

15 year old was diagnosed with GERD in the fall.  Continues to have "classic" GERD symptoms just started on Prevacid bid.  Also notes that he cannot take a complete breath when running.  Spiro's were normal. Upper GI normal, chest and stomach Xray normal.  Doctor is thinking he probably has exercise asthma.  Currently on prednisone for poison ivy.  Could the meds mask the GERD on the upper GI study?

I don't know about the meds masking the GI, I doubt it, but did you know that GERD can trigger asthma?

Raise the head of his bed by 6 inches, pain, but worth it. Also keep a track of the diet and see if there is any association with food and GERD. Could be a food allergy.
