Clenbuterol is in a class called beta-agonists.  It is used in Europe, but not in the U.S.  It is pharmacologically the same as many very similar products that are available in the U.S. that go under the names Ventolin® (albuterol) and Proventil® (albuterol).  These medicines quickly relax the smooth muscle tightness of the smooth muscles that surround the airways of the lungs.  Also these come in oral and inhaled forms.  Generally the inhaled form is less likely to cause side effects and works faster than the oral tablets.
