I keep our son away from all dairy due to the fact that it creates excessive mucus and that is the worst thing for his asthma....I have never given him skim or 1% but it all still have milkBreast milk Breast milk jaundice Lactose intolerance Nipple discharge - abnormal in it so I would think that it would possibly still produce excess mucus. If it makes you congested I suppose you will just have to weigh in if it is worth it to eat/drink dairy....we decided no to our son because it almost always clogged him up.
Happy breathing!
Victoria is right, dairy does create excessive mucus. Whether you drink whole or skim won't really make a difference in that, but it doesn't hurt to try.

If you are having the same issue with soy milk, then it might not be related directly to dairy, so you might want to mention it to your doctor.
