Can asthma deepen your voice (cause changes in larynx)?

I am 57 and about a year ago I was told I had allergy related asthma.  I was put on an inhaler and while it did help my breathing I feel like my throat closes up on me sometimes and my voice has deepened.  I was told to gargle, rinse and spit out after inhaling.  That doesn't really seem to help.  My voice and raspy cough have stayed the same.  I have a constant post nasal drip...maybe that is causing all this.  Allergy tests showed  a reaction to my cat (I re-homed her) and that did help, but now that winter is here everything is acting up again.  I let things get bad before I use the inhaler, because the dryness and "closing" feeling I get in my throat has started up in my chest.

what type of inhaler do you have that is causing the problem?  A rescue inhaler or steroid combination?

If it is the steroid inhaler causing the problem, switching the brand may help.

Post nasal drip can definitely affect your throat and irriate your vocal chords.  I'm not sure how to help with that because I have had no luck getting rid of my post nasal drip.
