Challenging triggers

I oppose the mind set that Asthma triggers should be prevented in asthmatic children.
In my practice, children are declared cured if no more triggers exist that  can cause asthma attacks.
This is achieved by using corticosteroids (oral or inhaled) reducing to zero dose.
What is your opinion?

In the beginning it was a god send. nomore hacking and wheezing during a cold that wouldn't go away like a normal person.

But then after over a decade of the brown puffer I noticed little infections would not clear up quickly. I won't go into too much detail but I had a crack in my skin that would bleed. I also developed 'dry socket' after having a tooth pulled. Didn't get a jaw infection the first time I had a tooth removed. I asked the dentist if it was possible that the brown puffer was affecting my immune system. He said yes, that he personally had stopped taking his brown puffer and only used the blue one for emergencies.

I too stopped the brown puffer and noticed my bleeding crack of skin went away never to return.

I must add though that my asthma is now uncontrolled, to the point I ended up in emerg and had to take predisone which I've never taken before....... but there were birds in the house afterall and so maybe that's the real reason.

I vote with allmymarbles.

There are many approaches to controlling asthma, and steroids should be only used as a temporary treatment of last resort. There much risk and this must be weighed against the benefit.

And the B-5 is an excellent suggestion.

There is also evidence that a vegatarian diet can help some asthmatics.

I am sorry to say that opinion is absolutely negative. Steroids negatively affect growth in children, result in bone loss, damage the adrenal glands, adversely affect immunity, and sometimes cause death. American doctors are being encouraged to seek other forms of treatment.

I took inhaled steroids for emphysema. I developed adrenal fatigue so extreme that sometimes I could not walk across a room, my head hair thinned, I started to develop face hair, my mild bronchitis became severe and, what made me stop taking the poison, was that it made me nearly choke to death. When I switched to natural inflammatories and mucolytics I found that my emphysema was not nearly so bad as I thought, that it was the steroids that made it appear worse. I have checked through medical literature to find that my reaction was not unusual, although you would never hear a drug company say so.

I have been off the poison since last August and feel better every day. I have been treated for adrenal fatigue. Among the natural supplements I take for the condition, is a large dose of vitamin B5 and that has helped the most. The adrenal malfunction depletes B5.

Please do your little children a favor and stick to a more natural means of treating them.

As far as allergies are concerned I was cured of mine through kinesiology. Traditional allergists were no use at all.
