DULERA AND THROAT PROBLEMS

FIRST THIS IS A QUESTION AND MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE NEW DULERA ASTHMA INHALER, WELL I WAS GIVEN DULERA ALMOST 2 MONTHS AGO, TO CONTROL MY ASTHMA, I WAS ONLY ON A RESCUE INHALER AND DR SAID IT WOULD KEEP ME FROM USING IT SO MUCH, AND IT WORKED VERY WELL ONLY THING I NOTICED A DRY HACKING COUGH THAT WOULDN'T GO AWAY, I TRED COUGH SYRUPS, GARGLED WITH WARM SALT WATER, SUCKED ON HALLS AND HARD CANDY, STILL NO HELP, ALWAYS HAD TO CLEAR MY THROAT, I MEAN LIKE EVERY 3 MINUTES, LIKE SOMETHING WAS STUCK IN THE BACK OF MY THROAT, I DID THIS TO THE POINT MY THROAT FELT RAW AND SORE, MY VOICE WAS ALMOST GONE AND I KNOW I WAS DAMAGING MY VOCAL CORDS CLEARING MY THROAT SO MUCH, BUT COULDN'T STOP!!! DR. SAID THROAT WAS RED, BUT DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING, SO I DECIDED TO STOP USING DULERA, ITS BEEN ALMOST 3 DAYS NOW AND ITS ALMOST 100% BETTER!!! I KNOW NOW THE DULERA WAS AGGERVATING MY THROAT, I DIDN'T GET THRUSH, I DID RINSE MY MOUTH AND THROAT AFTER EACH USE, BUT IT REALLY DID A NUMBER ON MY THROAT, I WAS ABOUT TO GO CRAZY, BUT THANK GOD IT SEEMS THAT THE DULERA WAS THE CULPRIT, BECAUSE THAT IS THE ONLY THING I DID DIFFERENT, SO I JUST HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE ELSE WHO WAS EXPERIENCING MY SYMPTONS.

Hi, I too are having the same symptoms after switching from Advair to Dulera. I never experienced those symptoms while on Advair and I used Advair for many many years. After reading your comments I am stopping Dulera and going back to Advair, it worked better and I trust it better than Dulera. Another thing I have noticed is the Dulera applicator will fail to deliver the medication, I will have to try it over and over again and in the meant time, the counter of the application continues to count each activation even though it fails to deliver the medication. This is an ongoing problem with this particular brand the I been experiencing, no just an single applicator, but every single one of them.

Yes, I experienced major vocal cord issues with Dulera.  I had to stop using is because I was clearing my throat every two minutes, and by the end of the day had lost my voice.  I found this site, promptly stopped using Dulera, and within two days my voice was back to normal.

Please know that I went through major, major allergy testing before my doctor prescribed Dulera, and I followed his directions to the letter!  His instructions were to use Dulera, gargle, then brush my teeth - and do this twice a day.  No thrush problem, but I absolutely had vocal cord problems.

I have only just started taking Dulera after quitting Symbicourt, which was giving me flu like symptoms. Dulera has given me a horrible, painful, rasping cough in a matter of days. It is awful. I am going back to Qvar asap! Even though Qvar is no longer enough to control my asthma, I had rather go back to that than have this pain.

inhaled steroids can be irritating to the throat so it defintely could be the inhaler causing the symptoms.  However if you are using your ventolin more than 3 times a week you do need a medication that will control the inflammation in your lungs.

You could ask your doctor for another brand of steroid like pulmicort that may not bother you as much.  Another possibility is to try singulair which helps allergy based asthma and is a once a day pill.
