PLEASE HELP asthma/birds????

To Whom It May Concern,

My twins have ba asthma, especially my daughter. If she catches a cold it triggers her asthma so much that her
lung function decreases, she will crackle & wheeze horribly, and she has to be put on "orapred."
We have a lovebird in the house. I keep the cage clean, have a air filter, spray the bird with water, etc..However, I do feel that the birds dander may be setting off, or adding to her asthma problems. Even though she is technically not allergic to dust mites, she is allergic to feathers, but more important, when I walk by the cage I do feel that same feeling in my chest, (tightness, etc..). Ever since we got the bird her asthma has become worse, I don't know for sure if the bird is adding to the problem, but my question to you is this,

***SHOULD WE GET RID OF THE BIRD TO ELIMINATE ALL POSSIBLE ASTHMA TRIGGERS???,
***DO YOU THINK THE BIRD IS IN FACT A PROBLEM FOR MY DAUGHTERS SEVERE ASTHMA PROBLEMS??

Please respond as my daughter is again experiencing asthma type coughs right now. She was JUST ON Orapred 2 weeks ago. I would really appreciate it if you could respond to my email address, or atleast forward your response to my email. I do appreciate it. Thank you so much.

No one can say 100% the lovebird is causing to worsten her asthma, but it is likely.  Can you have someone else babysit the bird for a while to see if her condition improves?  If not, try putting it in a room, closing the door and seeing if that helps.

If her asthma improves, you might have to say good bye to Mr. Bird; if it doesn't, something else could be causing her problems.
