Please help with pain

My two year old son has been diagnosed with acid reflux from the time he was an infant.  He has also been diagnosed with asthma, chronic sinusitis, milk and soy allergies, and cat and dust allergies.  He is currently taking asthma meds, reflux meds and allergy meds daily.  He never goes more than 2 weeks or so without taking an antibiotic.  It usually takes two courses of the antibiotics to kick the sinus infection out.  His allergist brought to our attention he may have an immune system problem or cystic fibrosis.  His pediatrician is at a loss.  I was wondering where to go from here and if the allergist could be correct.  My son is miserable with chest and stomach pain and I do not know where to go from here.

You would do well to follow the allergist's advice.  Your son could well have cystic fibrosis (CF) or some type of immunodeficiency state.  The allergist might well evaluate the latter, especially if he/she is a pediatric allergist.  However you would do well to seek further lung evaluation, including the question of CF, by a pediatric pulmonologist.  You can usually find a skilled pediatric pulmonologist at the nearest children’s hospital or university hospital.  We recommend that you seek consultation, without delay.  If you live in the Rocky Mountain region, the National Jewish Medical and Research Center in Denver, Colorado would be an equally good choice.
