Seretide inhaler

Seretide inhaler

my sister went for a check up to a pulmonary doctor and the doctor heard a wheezing sound when my sister exhale, does that mean that my sister has asthma? the doctor prescribed Seretide and Avamys and some antihistamines and antibiotics. is my sister going to become dependent on seretide inhaler after she finishes the inhaler? Is Seretide an inhaler that a patient can become dependent on it? I'm concerned and worried....

Seretide is a steroid inhaler but I wouldn't expect your sister to be on a high enough dose for it to make her dependent.

Ideally there would be pulmonary function tests done to see if she has asthma but it can also be done indirectly through seeing if the medications help. Give it 4 weeks and if she hasn't improved then it is not asthma and further work-up is needed.

The ava-mys and anti-histamines will help allergies, seretide help with lung inflammation and the antibiotics will help with infection.  I would assume that from those drugs, the doctor thinks there is either reactive airways from an infection or allergy based asthma symptoms going on.

Let us know how it goes.
