Smoking and Asthma

I have recently tried out smoking since my asthma isn't so severe, I don't take controler medicines on a regular basis not even rescue inhalers. The only time I get asthma flare-ups are right after a cold or the flu.
I haven't smoked much, maybe 2-4 on one day for 2 weekends. That's the first pack I ever bought, on occasion I have taken maybe one or two from a person.
But after the last I got severe chest pain lasting trough out the week. It's persistent and yes my breathing has gotten worse. Smoking is definitely not for me, but is this a sign that I might have already caused permanent damage to my lungs? As an asthma patient, when quitting does your lung function improve or go back to normal?

The body has a way of removing antigens from the lungs, provided there is only a small quantity. So yes, the lungs will clear if a young person only experiments with smoking and gives it up.

The question is "at what threshold" does the damage begin to be irreversible? That is a "how many angels on the head of a pin question".

For an asthma patient to start smoking is very foolish. Smoking is extremely addictive, and after a few weeks you will not be able to stop.

I am glad you learned early that smoking is not for you.  More people need to realize that.  Why people start in ther first place alludes me when they know it causes cancer.  Stick with your decission.  I would also recommend that you stay out of places where smoking is prevalent.  Second hand smoke is even worse for you.

Take care.

I am missing something here. How can second-hand smoke be worse than smoking? That doesn't hold water scientifically.
