Symptoms even though peak flow normal

by mrsjoy, Dec 31, 2007 06:37PM
I was recently diagnosed with mild persistent asthma and have found that my peak flow numbers are in the normal range for me (about 400) yet I still feel the tightness.  Have read that sometimes the small airways don't register on the peak flow meter.  Have been using azmacort for weeks and don't have complete relief yet.  Any help?

If you have been using Azmacort for weeks now and don't feel like you are getting alot of relief, then I would talk to your doctor about this. I think that you are right regarding the small airways and peak flows...There were times when I checked my peak flows and would predict that they would be terrible only to see that my numbers were slightly decreased, yet I would have that tightness. Sometimes it takes some shuffling of meds to get really good control of your asthma..I know it did me..Sunny
