anhidrosis

My son is a very active 9 yr old who last year started experiencing heat intolerance, facial color changes, and shortness of breath while practicing football. I noticed he does not sweat on his face. It just gets clammy, red, and hot. He also complains of feeling very hot and gets emotional when this happens. He has seen a cardiologist and cardio has been ruled out. I am wondering if his asthma medication Symbicort could be the cause of these symptoms. He has no other underlying cause for anhidrosis. (his father did have nonsystemic amyloidosis). Any help would be appreciated. I havent been able to get any answers from his Doctors.

I'm on Symbicort and it doesn't do anything funny to me. Is he washing his mouth out after he puffs it? For some reason the instructions tell you to rinse your mouth out after you take your inhalations. I have absolutley no clue if that might help. You can also pressure them to switch to flovent, another long term medication. There is a disorder where your body doesn't produce enough of the cooling sweat and you overheat. Try the rare diseases board and see what they say.

Merry Christmas!
