anxiety or asthma?

Ok so I will start from the very start of my problems.Last summer I was having chest pain.so my doctor prescribed me abuterol and said I have allergy related asthma.Then this january I was in the kitchen and my face went numb I rubbed my face and the numbness went away but I suddenly couldn't breath. I couldn't get a breath again for 10 to 15 seconds. So I went back to my doctor and she said it was just anxiety.I don't think it was. Since then my anxiety got worse I got on st johns wart and that got rid of it.So I weaned from 3 a day to 1 every three days and I was just fine for a couple of months then I had a head pressure feeling and that problem where I couldn't breath again. After that my anxiety got worse again. I let it go and after a week I was fine again. then it happened again couldn't breathe anxiety got worse it took a couple weeks this time for my anxiety to get better. A week later it happened again except after I could breathe again my breathing was really shallow. So this time I went to the hospital. They gave me a chest X-ray and took a picture of my heart and they also gave me a breathing treatment which made me feel alot better. All the test came back fine. So I followed up with my doctor and she said my asthma was not controlled and put me on a preventive inhaler. She doesn't  believe I couldn't breathe. She just think I felt like I couldn't breath and that part was just anxiety.I am back on st johns wart and its working but I had the head pressure thing again but could still breathe. does this sound like anxiety or asthma? or something else?       Also I don't have your typical asthma symptoms. I don't weeze or cough. I get a feeling like I have a bad chest cold and heartburn. Or I get head pressure which I think is an asthma symptom for me. Can anyone tell me whats wrong. Also can you temporarly stop breathing from asthma?
