concerns

I just got diagnosed with asthma about three months ago. I became symptomatic when exercising. My pulmonologist put me on advair bid, singulair qd, (combivent and intal prn and before exercise) Been doing fine, but recently been getting phlemy, and tend to clear the throat quiet a bit. I was thinking I was probably coming down with a cold?  I do have a hx of gerd, and I take nexium qd, but one thing that happened since I started taking my asthma meds, it seems my gerd symptoms came back.  I tend to feel a lump in the throat and recently started to feel tightness around the throat area. This makes me very anxious, which makes the situtation worse.  Was told by my pulmonologist I should try taking zoloft.  Im thinking about going to see my doctor, but I dont know which one.  I know spasms are very common and the feeling of the lump in throat is a sign, but  I had never felt the thightness. Wondering if its Gi related or asthma? thanks

GERD and asthma dont mix so well.

GERD can make asthma wose, or even cause it.

I am sure you had the full pulmonary workup, what about the GERD workup? endoscopy?

If you do have bad GERD, fixing the gerd will def help with the asthma

Look into the Buteyko Breathing method. Especially since your asthma is not that bad. It should reverse these symptoms.
