low oxyzen level

my father is of age 57 years.
he has difficulty in breathing sometime. Last week at night all of sudden while he was sleeping he got severe breathing problem .we rushed to doctor. Doctor told that time his oxyzen level was only 48 which is too much less than required level. Doctor has prescribed to use OXYZEN MACHINE whenever he sleeps . machine will maintain oxyzen level.

He is also a thyroid patient. I want to know that he has to use this machine for a certain period of time or it will require lifetime?  what will be proper treatment ?

To help with the breathing problem tell him to do this pranayam twice a day, everyday. This will increase the oxygen level naturally.
Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after one minute.
Anulom Vilom pranayam –
Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril
then -keeping the left nostril closed  deep breath-in through right nostril
then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 15 to 30  minutes twice a day.
Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day.
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs. You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed.

If your father has COPD, empheysma or anything similar then the oxygen machine will probably be used for the rest of his life.

The best person to ask would be his doctor since they would be able to explain to you why the oxygen is necessary and how long/how much he should be using it.

Hopefully he is feeling better with it!
