wheezing/sob wont go away

Hello!  I don't know if anyone has had this kind of problem that I am having but here is what i have been getting.  Last Friday night into Saturday, I started to get congested with phlegm with the tightness in my chest and thought it was my asthma but I didn't have my Proventil (rescue inhaler/albuterol), so I took Flovent which didnt help that much but helped clear some of the phlegm.  On Sunday morning, I played softball and I felt fine but then Sunday night I went to work and ended up getting fever and chills along with a dry, hacking cough.    I went home and took some over the counter pain reliever/fever reducer pills which caused me to sweat a lot overnight.  On Monday the fever and chills continued with the cough.  On Tuesday I went to see the doctor and she prescribed me Bactrim which did absolutely nothing for me.  On Wednesday and Thursday, the fever and chills were gone but the coughing intensified but the cough was non-productive.  On Friday I went to see the doctor once again and she got me back on my rescue inhaler (Proventil)  and prescribed me Tessalon Perles for the coughing and Pseudovent for my sinuses.  Today is Sunday and the shortness of breath and tightness have gotten better but the coughing has not gone away and I have started to spit up a clear mucus from my sinuses draining down into my throat.  Last night I have tried to blow my nose only to have my ears clog up and for me to feel dizzy in the process.  I am afraid to go to the doctor again and have them prescribe me something that will continue to do no effect on me.  Do I have a chronic lung problem or what?  The wheezing has not gone away.  I continue to use and overuse my proventil but i can still hear the wheezing and after trying to hack up the phlegm nothing seems to clear this stuff up.  What should I do?

Azithromycin is a good antibiotic. It works for me chronic bronchitis.You should inhale steam from a humidifier.
