whooping cough v/s asthma

my 4 yr old grandson has bronchile asthma
been using a nebalizer for 2 years
it seems to be contant he is sick
his mom had whooping ocugh when she was a baby could that be passed on geneticallly, could he have whooping cough?
his nebalizer isnt doing any good now, he was on antibiotics for 3 weeks did no tseem to help the nebalizer use to help. They just gave him steroid mediine in his breathing machine still sick. Cough- deep cruopy cough like a bark and almost gags and choaks. Someo fthe family memers say they got sick form being around him. Thought asthma wasnt contagious. Who would we send hi mto as a doctor type of doctor? Can he be out in the cold.

The barking sound followed by intensive wheezing, vomiting, shortness of breath and a bluish tint on the face is a sign of whooping cough. Unfortunately a lot of doctors do not diagnose this because most have not treated it before. treatment wise, it is said that antibiotics may help in the early stages. There is hope - after the cough goes through the 3 stages, it does get better. There is also a link that asthma sufferers are more prone to whooping cough.
