6 year old unusual behavior

I am not sure what exactly this is but the other day my son was at the mall and wanted a toy. His father told him no and when we got back to the car he started saying "I want zinga" but it was more like a chant then a request. he just kept saying it over and over very rapidly for about 45 minutes. We couldn't get him to focus on anything else. He was not reasoning like saying I want a zinga because my friend has one or I want a zinga because I like them. We got out of the car and stood next to the car. He made his way out of the car seat into the front seat and out of the front car door the whole time chanting "I want zinga". His father tried to distract him by cleaning out the car and handing him water bottles ask him to hold them. He held them then began pouring them out, they where old bottles of water, with out even taking a breath. We got him into the house and laying down on the couch the whole time he was chanting then at some point he just quit doing it and excepted some food and water. He did not do it the rest of the day. It was like he was on auto pilot

Although I'm sure that was surprising if he had never done it before, but it sounds as though he was just trying out a new way to try and get something that he wanted.  I wouldn't worry about it.  If it something that begins happening quite frequently, then you might try generating some consistent ways of dealing with your son's behavior with your husband - primarily so that you can teach your son that there are appropriate ways to communicate what he'd like and to communicate when he's disappointed.

Best of luck
