8 year old daughter's behavior

Hi,

My daughter just turned 8 and I am a little worried about her social behavior.  She often wants to pretend to be an animal and makes barking noises while crawling around on the floor and she only has one good friend at school.  If the friend is not there to play with, she will play alone and she says this doesn't bother her.She also wants to constantly touch or pull on people and can't seem to sit still.    When adults talk to her, she is quite shy.  She is not doing that well at school and part of it is that I think she has trouble focusing.  Is this within the spectrum of normal for an 8 year old?
