I need help finding a doctor that knows about my sons condition.

My son was diagnosed with autism about 1 1/2 ago, since he's been diagnosed i havent gotten any help. I dont know what to do, his Dr. has no idea how to deal with his condition. what do you think I should do. I also wouldlike to know if you know any programs out there that would help understand him. Im having a very hard time.

The most effective treatment for children with autism is early intensive behavioral intervention. This means that your son should receive 20 hours of direct teaching in language, social skills and self-help skills. Services can be provided by early intervention or the public schools in your area. Where do you live?? How old is your son?? Are there any kind of early intervention programs in your area?? Is he in school yet?? If you doctor has done nothing to help you need to get a new doctor; one that will refer you son to get the services he needs, he should be getting speech, occupational and behavioural therapy to help with his behaviours. If I have some more info I can perhaps help you search for some service providers in your area.
