aspergers and lqt

Hi! I am new on this forum. I am again and again searching the net for more information on the condition of my son. He has been diagnosed with muscular hypotension, asperger syndrome and LQT (a rare heart disease that shows a problem with prolonged rhythms and can cause sudden fibrillations or stand stills). I found the title text to this forum already a revelation. As a lot of conditions were put into correlation with aspergers (balance, allergies, clumsiness etc) that seem to be always seen as  separate entities by our medical advisors rather than as part of the same issue.
My real problem is that I know of nobody that can share experiences with me on the Asperger's / LQT line of things. My son has to take Antiarrhytmica and Beta-Blockers fairly high dosed which of course have quite a few side effects which frankly don't help his Asperger situation at all. My feeling is and has been from the start that the Beta-Blockers are a real help with the stresses he has to face every day but I feel very unhappy about the Antiarrhytmica. As he first started on the Beta-Blockers when he was diagnosed with LQT we could really tell the difference (he always had a lot of Tetanie-attacks which stopped completely) however when the lhiabrotary finally eliminated the gene believed to be responsible for the LQT (its LQT3) he was put on Antiarrytmica and the Beta-Blockers were reduced again. We have since been in hospital after he had a really bad Tetanie and they found his blood tests showed horrific values for low calcium and high phosphate but won't take him of the antiarrytmica as they are scared he will have an episode. Is there anybody here that has any experience with this sort of thing?????

I'm sorry about having to refer you to another forum for a discussion of your son's condition but this forum is monitored by behavioral specialists and it would be improper for us to comment on a serious medical issue that we are not qualified to discuss.  That said, you mention certain conditions that have been associated with ASD and AS such as motoric problems (coordination, etc.) and allergies.  Though many will suggest that allergies occur more often in persons with autism, this is not strongly supported by research.  Though some will also suggest that dietary interventions improve the "symptoms" of autism, this is also not supported by research.  For more information on heart problems in the following medhelp forums monitored by medical experts:
