child not responding and talking

I have a 2 year old daughter. she said her first word at the age of 9 month. she kept learning and saying more than 5 words until she turned to 18 month. After this age she was not interested to play with other kids and she stays up and play by herself in her room after she wakes up from her day time nap for 2-3 hours. I observed strange signs that she is not responding when we talk to her. I spoke to my husband and he disregard my concerns that she is too young and be able to speak in her own time. One by one she stopped saying those words that she used to say and not responding while I talked to her. She is very active and a very happy child and she also responds to noises ( I figured she has no hearing problems). We saw her pediatrcian and he refered her to see audiologist, speech therpaist and to early intervention programs. The audiologists result showed that she has no any problems with her ears but there is a long wait to see other professionals. she is now turning to 2 and we are worried too much and no idea what it is and how we can be able to help her till we get speech therapist.

I a glad that you sought help as soon as you became concerned. It is very important to intervene as soon as a developmental delay of any kind is identified. If the wait for the professional that you originally contacted seems excessively long, consider calling some others to see if you can get in sooner. Most large hospitals will have a team of professionals that conduct developmental evaluations. Once the source of the difficulty is indentified, it will be important for you to be a strong advocate for your daughter to get the services she needs.
